Actor-producer Vishal who is shuttling between movie shoots and Nadigar Sangam meetings took some time off to speak to us about his upcoming movie,Marudhu . “The movie has shaped up well,” he says. “It is an edge-of-the-seat, commercial entertainer, set against a rural backdrop, and as you know, the majority of the movie was shot in Rajapalayam.” He is sure it is going to be a real ‘summer treat’ for audiences, refusing to get drawn into comparisons with his previous hits, Sandakozhi or Poojai.
When asked about the release of his much-delayed Madha Gaja Raja which was due to be out on May 27, he says with a huge sigh, “Now, the release date has been pushed to June 10. However, the producers will have to confirm if the movie is really coming out then.” The actor, who is also shooting for Kaththi Sandai simultaneously, told us that the movie is a start-to-finish venture, with shooting happening at a rapid pace. “If not for the rains, the shoot was taking place at a rapid pace and we are planning to finish the movie from start to stop,” says the actor.
The actor who is also general secretary of the Nadigar Sangam said that the plans for the building that will house the organization’s office are ready. “We submitted the building plan to the architects on Tuesday for execution and will begin construction shortly,” he says.
As for the topic that has him most peeved — piracy — Vishal says that the Producers’ Council had not yet arrived at a solution. “There were meetings held by the Council, and unfortunately, no decisions were taken. We went a step ahead and even nabbed the criminals to put an end to this. Again, nothing was done. What else should we do when people at the helm of the Council are not ready to take decisions,” he asks.
