Cocktail view on Thozha movie

1st half -Nice emotional depth. Bromance works big time. Karthi rocking with his spontaneity. Nagarjuna is majestic with his look, smilel.Long at 85 mins but engaging content with good sentiments. Local Karthi & royal nagarjuna are big +. Just 1 needless item song.

The way Karthi addresses nagarjuna as Anna, their combination scenes &bonding hold the film together. Emotional interval block. After Parutheevaran, AO & Madras, this is his best performance. What a spontaneous actor, wish he do more such films- Entertainer👍

Thozha is easily the best star-studded film frm PVP Cinema. A lovly entertainer that strikes a perfect balance between fun, bromance & drama. The only thing which irked me throughout the film is the loud BGM and needless songs but ignorable for the lovely adaptation!

The camaraderie between nagarjuna and Karthi comes alive in every scene, making it thoroughly entertaining to watch them on screen. The casting works well. Most of them are popular Telugu actors who've worked in Tamil films and hence, know the language & lip sync well.

Thozha clearly indicates this a bilingual, but not a dubbed Tamil film. nagarjuna's effort to dub in Tamil pays off. Good job.Karthi owns his role in Thozha like no other actor could have. Proves how good he can be when you give him a solid role.

Very nice film on relationships - bromance, family and life partners. Sentiments make the right connect. Kudos 2 dir Vamshi.Sure to work with family audiences this summer. Karthi shoulders the film so charmingly. Such a likable character.2nd half is when both karthi and nagarjuna make peace with their lives. The ending is beautiful. Go watch this feel-good tale.

Prakash Kumar and cinematography handled by George C. Williams, Theri will have a theatrical release in 2016.

Some main highlights from the action packed Theri Audio Launch

The action packed Theri audio launch was the most happening event in Chennai this past weekend. The Theri team led by Vijay was present in full force at the event, and there were many interesting speeches at the event. We present to you some interesting quotes and excerpts here:

"I didn't want my 4 years old daughter to get into cinema this soon as it is a very tough field. But Theri had a super story, with great importance to Nainika. Hence I agreed. She had to shoot some tough under water sequences for the film." - Meena

"Theru Theruva Theri Therikkum." - Prabhu (Theri will rock every nook and corner of the state)

"Ketta Paya sir indha Atlee. I really like the way he handles sentiments and looks into all the minute details. And when I came to know that Vijay didn't have any hesitation to act with a newcomer like me, I was floored." - Mahendran

"I was convinced about Theri, just with the first half's narration from Atlee. After the complete narration, he guaranteed to me that Theri would be our best film in every aspect. Atlee is like an amalgamation of Shankar and Murugadoss, in the way he shoots songs and structures scenes." - Producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu

"I generally don't have any stage fear but today I feel really anxious standing on this grand stage. Only a man like Thanu can mount such a grand event, cancelling all the shows on a Sunday in Sathyam theater." - Atlee

"Nainika had about 40 scenes with long long dialogues .. Samantha is a very good friend and I call her 'thambi' .. Sangeetha Akka really wanted me to bag this film and she had such goodwill for me." - Atlee

"Theri won't have any politics and controversies. It talks about the importance of raising a child well, through the perspective of a doting father." - Atlee

"I want all my fans to do good in life and scale new heights. Existing benchmarks and records have to beaten, like how it happens in cricket matches. But, it is important not to become too proud and arrogant." - Vijay

Theri Musicc review

The much expected songs of Theri have been released today. It marks composer GV Prakash's 50th album in his 10 year journey as a music director. This is his 2nd outing with both Vijay (after Thalaivaa) and Atlee (after Raja Rani). How have the 7 tracks turned out? Lets find out in the review

Jithu Jilladi - This is such an instant charmer from the 'gaana' king Deva who effortlessly sings in a high pitch, at the age of 65. Balachandran chips in with a low pitched rendition in the anupallavi. 'Jithu' is a tribute to the cops with easy, 'local' lyrics penned by Rokesh. GV Prakash has mixed up the standard 'kuthu' template with trumpets, siren sounds, synth and dubstep. Yet another 'gaana' hit from the Vijay - Deva duo, which is guaranteed to generate large scale celebration from the masses in cinemas. PICK

Eena Meena Teeka - This is the cute 'pony tailed' father's bonding song with his daughter, treated with some rock and roll shades. Their sentiment is conveyed through relatable, naughty lyrics. Uthara is her natural playful self while GV's humming adds a touching flavor to the song. The visuals will endear Ilayathalapathy Vijay to the kids even more. PICK

En Jeevan - This is a melody treat with lovely vocals by the evergreen Hariharan, sweet Saindhavi and the blessed Vaikom Vijayalakshmi (in a powerful Sanskrit rendition). The lilting instrumental orchestration complements the tune, which is right in GV's strong zone. Expect Vijay and Samantha to exhibit some great chemistry in this intimate duet. PICK

Dub Theri Step - Starts off with the trumpets from 'Jithu' and proceeds as a hardcore dubstep track, with the expected quirky synth sounds. Arunraja Kamaraj comes out with an intense rap, while the piano and whistles make their presence felt amid all the noise. Should be pulsating on screen during the action moments. PICK

Chellaakutty - A peppy dance duet (along the lines of 'Vaada Maapla'), with good EDM variations by GV Prakash. The bagpipe hook is the highlight of the number. This is a safe hit, where Vijay enjoys himself as a singer and Neeti Mohan is bouncy with her voice. The auto-tuning on Vijay's voice could have been avoided though. PICK

Thaimai - A little classical melody rendered by Bombay Jayashri. This situational track is for Samantha's maternal instincts. There are some lovely flutes on this track and along with the female chorus, we are reminded of the classic 'Yamunai Aatrile' from Thalapathy.

Raangu - A regular set-based kuthu duet with a standard T Rajendar (a bit low-key) and a lively Sonu Kakkar behind the mic. The final 20 secs of the song are a high, but on the whole this pedestrian track will depend on some fun visuals to work.

VERDICT - 'GV 50' is a winner, which packs diverse varieties of songs starting from melody to kuthu gaana to the jolly peppy stuff. It's sure to add value to the movie.

E= MC² cocktail view on Kadhalum Kadanthu Pogum

Kadhalum Kadanthu Pogum knows how to strike a balance between romance and dramedy. Quirkiness comes alive in almost most scenes. Loved it.

Vijay Sethupathi and Madonna Sebastian make a great acting pair in Kadhalum Kadanthu Pogum. So good in their respective roles.Gets dramatic towards the end but largely light hearted fare.

Wondering wat made Nalan to select this remake.2 superb scenes : One is the viluppuram portion where Vijay Sethupathi  & Madonna meet her parents and second is the Avadi IT interview portion.

Smart writing packaging Nalan Kumarasamy. Fell in love with this heart warming romance and the way Nalan adapted a Korean film 2 fit in with TN milieu.Madonna Sebastian, terrific can't believe it is her 2nd film, lip sync perfect.

Director Nalan Kumarasamy played to his strength & except for few draggy portions, he delivered an enjoyable fare again.

Watch out for this new girl from Kochi, relaxed outing guaranteed, some drama, some romance, feel-good ending.Good summer time pass. Leisurely paced film.
